Our caring and kind-natured dental health practitioners go out of their way to make you feel relaxed and comfortable during any dental service procedure. We pride ourselves on helping those in the community who have had traumatic past experiences or have had a dental phobia passed on to them. Many of our patients comment they have never felt relaxed at the dentist until they started coming to our practice and this has almost become a specialty of our service.
Attending for regular exams with our four dentists increases the chances of preventing tooth decay, gum disease, toothaches, root canal therapies and extractions. The aim of having regular checks is to catch any problems early, then they are generally easier and more cost effective to treat.
At Barossa Dental we recommend 6 monthly exams for people with previous dental treatment such as fillings, root canals, gum disease, veneers or tooth loss. 12 monthly exams usually suffice for people with no previous dental problems.
Regular dental hygiene appointments are very important treatment for your teeth. Without regular scales and cleans, treatment will not last as long and there is an increased risk of future problems, such as tooth decay, gum inflammation and bone loss.
At Barossa Dental we recommend 6 monthly hygiene visits for the majority of people and 12 monthly hygiene for people who are considered a low risk for dental problems.
Our oral health practitioners, Emma and Lisa, offer these services 5 days a week.
Every person at some stage in their life grinds or clenches their teeth and some people do it more often than others. This leads to premature tooth wear, shortening of teeth, snapped teeth, headaches and long term jaw joint pain.
A guard to wear at night aims to prevent a lot of this type of damage that occurs most often when we are sleeping – a time when we often put more force on our teeth than when we are eating.
Custom fitted mouthguards made in a laboratory allow protection and shock absorption during contact sports. They are much more comfortable and easier to breathe with during activity than generic guards from the chemist or sports shop. Each mouthguard should last a couple of seasons of football/hockey/basketball.
